Who do we help? People in need, lone adults, lone parents, and families who can demonstrate their eligibility as being in receipt of State Benefit and/or supported by a recognised charity or help agency. The items are not free as we receive no funding from anywhere. We aim to provide a stock of good quality, second-hand furniture and household goods from the community's generous donations. We will deliver the agreed items to the address on the benefit letter within the Crawley and Horsham areas included in the cost. Please visit us during the hours displayed on the Opening Hours page to inspect the available stock. Our experienced friendly staff and volunteers will be happy to assist you. Please note that we are open to the general public. How are we funded? We also supply furniture to the general public. The furniture is supplied as seen and it has been priced at an affordable rate. This helps with the running costs, collection, storage and delivery of the goods. We do this because we are not funded by the local council or in receipt of any grant or other funding. When furniture has been in our warehouse for a period of time, and is unwanted by any of our clients, we may send it for auction solely to raise funds for the charity. FurniAid is committed to continuing helping Crawley people who need low cost furniture, but to achieve this we also need to improve our future finances, so we can continue this vital service. We also accept we need the wider community's support (including your essential financial donations) so we can continue to help people who really need our help. Recycling and Reusing items Crawley Furni-Aid is committed to reduce waste and pollution by recycling otherwise unwanted goods. Its work has been recognised by the Crawley Environmental Forum and it has won a number of Crawley Green Business Awards. The work we now undertake on behalf of Horsham District Council incorporates recycling items of furniture and white goods from Horsham and to divert these items from landfill. We also strive to adopt policies that assist the community by maximising reuse and recycling to protect the environment. Please see our Environment page for further information. |
